Love
José Reyes (Chilean)
We were just two naked bodies in a shadowy room when
my eyes came across yours.
My hands held your back while your arms rested warmly on my shoulders.
And my soul saw itself reflected in your crystal clear eyes, as if reflected
on the Coral Sea waters.
And my soul swam into those waters full of mysteries and scents.
Then, as a calm sea, I washed your shore, both smooth and wet.
Y played with stars and sea shells and I learnt you from south to north, as a
sailor sailing through unexplored seas.
And I felt the breeze of your breath stirring up that calm sea, and how the small
waves raised hugely filling your coast with life and colour.
For an infinite moment, your coast was my sea, and my sea your golden sand. Neither
you nor me, but both we were.
The storm is calming slowly now, and the light return to our senses, and my soul
gets out from your eyes soaked of yours, while my hands still hold your smooth
back, and everywhere around us lies the perfume of sea weed and love.
Love is to the sea how poetry is to the air.
The sea is in your eyes, and my poetry is seeking for your port.
